2024: Progress, challenges, milestones

"We live forwards – we understand backwards."
Søren Kierkegaard

A constant presence
While individual events were scattered throughout the year, one topic was almost a constant presence: the "LC Lucerne" project. We are constantly optimizing the current partial operation of our new location, while the construction of the second stage is in full swing. Layout and client planning are important for future operations, along with many other exciting sub-projects. I was also able to grow and learn from these varied areas of responsibility myself, not least because this is one of the most modern logistics centers in Switzerland.

Challenged
It may seem obvious: As a transportation and logistics company, our main focus is of course not on planning and construction. At a strategic and operational level, projects have been just as important in recent months. Not least due to the transport policy situation, which challenged us on many levels with issues relating to HVF, national road expansion, climate protection and federal innovation, as well as a tense economic environment.

Certified
At the same time, we also used the skills of our employees in the area of certifications - we planned and passed audits by certification bodies, offices and authorities. In this way, we continue to create a professional basis for trusting and secure cooperation with customers and partners.

Proudly
We did not miss out on our core topic: sustainability. In October, for example, we were able to commission the region's largest PV system at our head office. The new system has an impressive output of 1,156 kWp and produces around 1,204 MWh of electricity per year. This provides enough energy on 5,100 m2 to supply around 256 households for a year.

Digitized
LC Lucerne, solar installation, logistical challenges - all this and much more shaped our activities in the past year. However, we were also able to celebrate major milestones in the digital world: our new employee app "Glix" (Galliker Live Information Experience) took internal communication and exchanges between teams, departments and locations to a new level, while the new website ensured a modern, clear and easy-to-understand external presence.

Grateful
We have achieved a lot, and even more has been incorporated into our ideas and visions. But that doesn't stop us from saying THANK YOU. Personally, I can always look forward to new challenges, I am surrounded by strong employees and meet a wide variety of customers every day, with whom we work together in a spirit of trust. It is a pleasure to deal with familiar or new topics on a daily basis and the annual meetings in the last quarter have shown that we can continue to build on a strong foundation despite difficult market conditions. A willingness to compromise, transparency and direct and respectful communication have always been the key for me - and this has proven itself again in 2024.

Inspired
We are now looking forward to a relaxing festive season with our loved ones, good food and even better wine - and we wish you all the same, dear employees, customers and partners. After all, we will soon be able to put our energy into new challenges again - we are already looking forward to the completion of LC Lucerne, new projects in the interests of our customers, internal optimizations, relocations and numerous encounters with inspiring people.
